Vision, mission and values

This is what SRLS is working towards, and how the Scheme says it intends to work.

Vision

A Gambia where every student can access higher education without financial barriers.

Mission

To provide sustainable, transparent and equitable financing by working with government, higher education and TVET institutions, students, families, employers and development partners, to ensure that cost is never an obstacle to accessing and completing higher education in The Gambia.

TVET means technical and vocational education and training.

Core values

SRLS states seven values, in these words.

Equity
We are committed to ensuring that every deserving student, whatever their gender, where they live, their income or their background, has fair access to higher education financing.
Accountability
We uphold the highest standards of responsibility in managing public resources, so that funds are used efficiently, ethically and transparently.
Sustainability
We operate a revolving model where today's beneficiaries become tomorrow's contributors. Repayment responsibility and disciplined financial management keep the Fund going.
Transparency
We keep every process open. Loan application, disbursement, repayment and reporting will be open, traceable and accessible to the public, to build trust and credibility.
Service excellence
We provide efficient, professional and student-centred services that respect the dignity and the needs of all beneficiaries and stakeholders.
Partnership and collaboration
We recognise that success depends on strong relationships with government, employers, universities, TVET centres, banks, mobile money operators, communities and development partners.
Integrity
We commit to ethical conduct, honesty and consistency in everything we do, so that the Scheme stays trusted and respected across the country.
