Guarantor requirements
Every applicant has to provide two guarantors: a primary guarantor and a secondary guarantor.
Your primary guarantor has to meet the requirements SRLS sets, and has to be willing to take on the responsibilities that come with guaranteeing your loan.
Your secondary guarantor has to meet the SRLS requirements too, and be willing to take on the responsibilities of the guarantee.
Before you name a guarantor
Do all of this before you submit your application.
- Speak to the people you want to name.
- Make sure each of them understands what the guarantee is for and what it makes them responsible for.
- Check that each of them meets the SRLS requirements.
- Make sure their information and their supporting documents are available.
- Make sure everything they give you is accurate and can be verified.
Guarantor documents
The same list applies to each of the two guarantors.
- Valid identification
- Proof of address: a utility bill, or the Google coordinates of where they live
- Proof of employment or income, where it applies
- A bank statement or a mobile money statement
SRLS has not published the detailed guarantor requirements yet. They will be in the Guarantor Guide, which is not available yet. If you are unsure whether someone qualifies, contact SRLS before you apply.
